Set specific goals you know you can achieve

If you're one of those individuals who makes to-do lists on a regular basis, pay attention: It's preferable to be precise and establish targets you know you can reach when defining your goals. Instead of setting a goal such as "rescue the environment," for example, aim to recycle more.

In a research released last year, these two scenarios were examined on a group of 127 participants. The first group was given specific goals such as "promote recycling," whereas the second group was given broad goals such as "rescue the environment." Despite the fact that the second group accomplished the identical activities as the first, the second group reported being less happy with themselves than the first.

According to the researchers, the persons in the second group also reported a lower overall sense of personal pleasure as a result of achieving their objective.
